Free agency health check
Is your agency actually any good?
Four minutes. An honest score. If they’re great, we’ll tell you to stay.
Quick taps about what you pay, what you get, what you own and what you see. We score your agency out of 100 on the stuff that actually protects you — and show our working.
No login. No sales call. Your agency never sees it.

Most answers take two minutes to check.
How it works
Built to tell the truth.
Most agency audits are built to find problems. This one’s built to tell the truth.
- 01
Great agencies score great.
If your agency is doing right by you, you’ll see it in black and white — and we’ll tell you to stick with them. We mean it.
- 02
Facts, not vibes.
Most questions are things you can check in two minutes: who owns the account, what’s on the invoice, what’s in the report. Where it’s a gut call, we say so.
- 03
Price alone never costs points.
Expensive isn’t bad. Unclear is. We score whether you can see what you pay for and whether it’s working — not whether it’s cheap.
- 04
Only what applies to you.
Don’t run ads? No ad questions. Only been with them three months? We won’t mark them down on results yet.
The check
Let’s see how they’re doing.
Six quick steps. About four minutes.
Ready when you are.
Six short steps. Answer for how things are now, not how they were meant to be. “Not sure” is always an option, and it's never a fail.

How we score
No black box.
Here’s exactly how it works.
25
Ownership & access
Do you own the accounts, website and files you pay for? It weighs most because it’s the hardest thing to fix later.
20
Reporting & tracking
Regular reports, in plain English, tied to sales or leads — and numbers that match what you actually see.
20
Results & value
Agreed goals, whether it’s paying for itself, which way it’s trending, and whether you get what you pay for.
15
Money transparency
Can you see what’s their fee and what went to Google or Meta? Is what you’re buying written down?
10
Working together
Responsive, proactive, a team you know, real strategy reviews — and your own gut feel.
10
Contract & exit
Fair terms, and a clean handover in writing if you ever leave.
What the score means.
- 85–100
- Amazing. Stick with them.
- 70–84
- Good agency. A few loose ends.
- 50–69
- Mixed bag. Time for a straight conversation.
- 30–49
- Some real warning signs.
- 0–29
- Time to get your keys back.
- Every answer earns points based on what a good agency should be doing. The points for each answer are fixed — they’re the same for everyone.
- “Not sure” is never a fail. It earns part marks and comes with a two-minute way to check.
- A few gaps are too serious to average away: no access to an account you pay for, not being able to see what reached the ad platforms, the agency owning your work, or not being able to leave with your stuff. One of these caps the score at 84. Two or more cap it at 69.
- Questions that don’t apply to you are skipped, and their weight is shared across the rest. No ads? Ad questions don’t count.
- With your agency less than six months? “Too early to tell” on results doesn’t count against them.
- We don’t score how big your fee is. We show how it compares with published Australian price ranges, for context only.
- unpitch introduces businesses to agencies. That’s exactly why the scoring is public: you can see it doesn’t favour anyone.
- The score is only as good as your answers. It’s a guide, not an audit — but every finding is something you can check yourself.

Fair questions.
Is this a sales funnel?
unpitch introduces businesses to agencies, so if your agency scores low, we can help you find a better fit. But it only works if it’s honest. If your agency scores well, your result tells you to stay, and we won’t try to talk you out of it.
Will my agency find out?
No. We never contact agencies about your result, and we never publish names or scores.
What happens to my answers?
The check runs in your browser. Your answers aren’t sent to us or anyone else. If you copy a link to your result, the answers travel inside that link — so only share it with people you’d show the result to.
Why does ownership count for so much?
Because it’s the one problem you can’t fix after the fact. Lose access to an ad account, a domain or a Google Business Profile and you can lose years of data, history and reviews. Almost everything else can be fixed with a conversation.
My agency is a freelancer. Does it still work?
Yes. Everything here applies to anyone you pay to run your marketing.
I don’t have an agency yet. Can I use it?
Yes — as a checklist. Every question is something to get in writing before you sign with anyone.
We scored low. Now what?
Start with your “Fix first” list. Most of it is a polite email to your agency, and we give you the wording. Give them a fair go at fixing it. If they won’t, that tells you what you need to know.
